 Answers

Q1. What is iPendence?

A1. iPendence is a meeting place for independent professionals and hiring companies. Hiring companies posts projects, and professionals post profiles listing their skills and talents.  Parties may browse through the various listings and express interest in projects or professionals.

Q2. What are your fees?

A2.We do not charge a percentage. We do not require fees to post projects or to even express interest in projects.  Please see our fees and rewards page for an explanation.

Q3. How can I make money with iPendence?

A3. iPendence pays you to refer your friends and associates, and for any inquiries that your profile generates. Please see our referral program page for an explanation.

Q4. I forgot my username and password. How can I get them?

A4. We can email your username and instructions on how to obtain a new password to your. See our forgotten password page.

Q5. How do you guys make your money to support your site?

A5. We make money in several ways.

1. Hiring companies can search our consultant listings.  If they want to make an offer, we only charge $10 to reveal the consultant's contact information. The then send a note to the consultant and ask his permission to release the information.  We then give the consultant 10% of the fee we receive, and 10% to the person who referred him, assuming he releases his information.

2. If hiring companies choose to pay a $50 fee then the listing it is free to consultants. The advantage to paying the fee is that they have control over to whom their contact information is released, they will also receive a greater response, and it is potentially more cost effective than paying to reveal to the contact information of each of the candidates that express interest anonymously.

3. If a company posts a free project,  then a consultant can send their profile, minus their contact information to the hiring company, it the hiring company is interested they can pay a $10 fee to get the consultant's contact information.   Alternatively, a consultant can pay $3 to reveal the contact information of a hiring company that has listed a free project.

The beauty of the site is that each party can "pass the buck" to the other party.  When ever the "bucks stops" we get a small fee, which helps support the site.  Theoretically, a user could use this site to hire consultants or get work without paying a penny. For more in depth information please see our Fees page.
